Benefits of Enemas

The use of therapeutic coffee enemas began during WWI when morphine were in short supplies and nurses were desperate to find ways to help soldiers with the relief of after-surgery pain. Water enemas were used routinely, and coffee was available for doctors who sometimes had to work around the clock. One resourceful nurse just added some leftover brewed coffee to the enema bucket and they found it to be very effective as a pain reliever.

German researchers were prompted to study the properties in coffee that produced these effects. The findings were that coffee enemas helped opening of the bile ducts. Bile is produced in the liver, stored in the gallbladder and secreted in the intestines via the bile ducts carrying waste out of the system.

Without entering the digestive tract the palmitic acid is absorbed through the bowel wall into the liver through the portal veins stimulating the production of a liver enzyme called glutathione-S-transferase (GST), which helps remove free radicals and ultimately the liver detoxification process. In addition the coffee enema triggers peristalsis and the removal of waste through the large intestine.

The blood circulates through the liver every three minutes, thus ideally the coffee enema should be retained for at least 3 minutes, but even better 6-9- 12 or 15 minutes.

The wheatgrass enema is similar to a coffee enema, but differs in that it is full of nutrients and oxygen that the body can use. Packed with chlorophyll, wheatgrass is able to transform into a super oxygen-carrier, therefore boosting our oxygen supply which environment supress bacterial overgrowth. Chlorophyll present in wheatgrass is similar to haemoglobin, and this could help improve red blood cell creation in the body. Wheatgrass possesses natural enzymes that can neutralize carcinogens and toxins in the body.

Besides the most popular coffee and wheatgrass enema, the liquid for enemas can be anything from simple salt water (or Epsom salt) to more complex herbal or medicinal preparations.
